“Once Upon a Family” – TFHkids journey into curriculum writing.

The search for a Kidmin curriculum that meets every single one of our needs as a ministry is always a long and nearly impossible one. We generally tweak things, manipulate scripts and activities, and rewrite several portions of it every week to make it “fit” our kids ministry. However, the idea of writing our own curriculum seemed even more impossible! Read more…

Little Love Letters: 5/20/11

My Little Love,

I wish I could say that every day I’ve sat down and written a few thoughts for you. But the truth of it is, if I am not at work, I’m sleeping! You are taking every ounce of energy that I have, but I’m OK with that. Whatever you need from me to be healthy, strong, and keep growing, that’s what I am here for. Read more…

Little Love Letters

This was written on April 17, 2011. But, for obvious reasons, couldn’t be posted until today.

It’s been one week since I found out that you exist, but a lifetime that I’ve waited for this news. I had a suspicion the week leading up to the big reveal, but still never really thought it could be true. In one short week, you’ve already changed my life. So, in an effort not to forget, I thought I should start writing stuff down. Read more…

Seasons

One of my favorite songs is “Every Season” by Nichole Nordeman. The lyrics provide a walk through all four seasons and the highlights of each. The picture she paints with her words is so vivid and nearly tangible. As many times as I’ve heard it, my eyes tear up and I get a lump in my throat nearly every time she gets to “spring.” Read more…

Three Ugly Confessions

In case you don’t know this about me, I am continually self-analyzing. Sometimes it works in my favor, other times, well, not so much. Sometimes I find beautiful, surprising things in me that make me glow with pride. Other times, parts of me are illuminated that make me quite sick. You know, the types of things that drive me crazy about other people that couldn’t possibly be found in me, but are. Read more…

Dreaming Again

“Go home on time” and “Save your best energy for home.” Two phrases I never thought I’d hear from a “boss”. But this past Tuesday, we as a leadership team were encouraged to do just that by our Pastor. Heading into this Easter season our lives are bound to become very quickly consumed with programming, rehearsals, updating, meetings, etc. But I am making a very conscious effort to become very quickly consumed with my home and family first. Perspective

We’ve been trying a new curriculum in TFHkids called TRU. One aspect of the curriculum that attracted me to it is that everything is told from a perspective of The Big God Story. I love that the kids learn that they are as much a part of God’s Story as Moses and John The Baptist are. I appreciate that the kids not only learn the Bible stories, but learn how to apply them to their own personal stories. Read more…

Talking to Your Kids about Fasting

Imagine you and I are at a party with loud music, a basketball game with a rowdy crowd or a park next to a loud highway. If you and I were trying to carry on a significant conversation, it would be quite difficult. What’s the solution? Find a quieter place to chat! There’s nothing inherently wrong with background music, loud basketball fans or a lot of traffic- but they make noise. Noise that would keep me from being able to hear everything you were trying to say. Read more…

January 2011

In the past, when I approach a time of fasting I get excited. For me, fasting always brings clarity. Read more…

The Value of Consistency

I’ve often heard my senior pastor, Pierre, say that any more than two weekends in a row away from the platform is too much. I didn’t realize what he meant until last Sunday. Read more…
